Ten University of California faculty members and lecturers are included in The Princeton Review’s new guidebook for the country’s best undergraduate professors.
Seven professors and lecturers from UC Berkeley and one each from UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara and UC Santa Cruz are profiled in “The Best 300 Professors,” which was published last week.
UC teachers making the list were:
UC Santa Barbara
John Majewski, history (faculty web page)
UC Berkeley
Denis Auroux, math
P. Robert Beatty, biology
Ron Gronsky, engineering
Alan Karras, international studies
Steven Pedersen, chemistry
Zvezdelina Stankova, math
David Wetzel, history
UC Davis
Thomas Famula, animal science

The list was based on The Princeton Review surveys and RateMyProfessor.com ratings collected from students at thousands of colleges across the country and abroad about their classroom experiences and assessments of their professors.
“We developed this project as a tribute to the extraordinary dedication of America’s undergraduate college professors and the vitally important role they play in our culture, and our democracy,” said Robert Franek, Princeton Review’s senior vice president. “One cannot page through this book without feeling tremendous respect for the powerful ways these teachers are enriching their students’ lives, their colleges, and ultimately our future as a society.”
