The Department of History at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a tenure-track position (rank open). We seek applications from scholars in any geographic and chronological specialization, with a preference for candidates with demonstrated experience in conducting field-related projects in collaboration with museums, archives, preservationist organizations, historical justice initiatives, local communities, and public agencies. The department is especially interested in candidates working in areas of race and/or indigeneity, and who can contribute to the department’s ongoing work of internationalizing our Public History program. The successful candidate will enhance the department’s undergraduate and graduate curriculum in the theory and practice of Public History.
