Salma Shash has been awarded a prestigious Mellon/ACLS Dissertation Innovation Fellowship for the 2024-25 academic year. The fellowship, in its second year, is awarded to a cohort of graduate scholars for their “bold and innovative approaches” to dissertation research in the humanities and social sciences. The award will support Shash’s project, “Villagers, Criminals, and Policemen: Policing and Justice in Rural Egypt, 1854-1914,” which received accolades in The Current.
