Prof. Luke Roberts coordinated the writing of the grant with Japanese Studies faculty.
This grant will provide nearly $300,000 to support Japanese studies (particularly Japanese history) over three years. The grant will provide funds to support a post-doc, a visiting scholar from Japan, graduate student fellowships, and a summer institute for faculty and graduate students. One of the most exciting component of the package is that it will provide funds to facilitate the hiring of a full-time, tenure-track position in modern Japanese history.
