My research tends to branch out in many directions, but I typically focus on the United States (19th and 20th centuries), public history, race and ethnicity, visual culture, museum education, and activist art. I am currently researching an exhibitionist history of the Ethnic Studies Movement over the long 1970s. I am especially interested in how artists, collectives, and museums worked to illuminate past injustices in the years immediately post-Civil Rights and the Vietnam War. Both my BA and MA are in Art History so I try to bring in images whenever I can.
