Event Description:
The Colloquium on Work, Labor, and Political Economy inaugurates the fall workshop series with a talk on October 16 by Susan Levine, Professor of History at the University of Illinois, Chicago. She offers a paper, “‘The Moral Challenge of Abundance’: Humanitarianism and the Rise of the Food Aid Complex after World War II.” Her most recent book is School Lunch Politics: The Surprising History of America’s Favorite Welfare Program (2010). Her presentation takes place on Friday, October 16 at 1 p.m. in Humanities and Social Science Building Room 4041 on the UCSB campus.
