On the heels of publication of his new book “The Iranian Constitutional Revolution and the Clerical Leadership of Khurasani” (Syracuse University Press, 2015), Mateo was awarded tenure and promoted to associate professor in April 2016. He will be on sabbatical in Iran and Germany in Spring 2017 where he takes on more research and will continue writing his next two books. Chicago has been home for the last 6 years after graduating from UCSB and he’s content living close to campus with his wife Maryam and daughter Maya.
