Public History Colloquium, Adam McNeil, “The Importance of Podcasting for the Study of Black Life”

Adam Xavier McNeil is the 2025-26 postdoctoral fellow at the American Philosophical Society and is an incoming Assistant Professor at the University of Rhode Island’s Africana Studies department. McNeil defended his dissertation, “Contested Liberty: Fugitive Women & the Shadow of Re-Enslavement and Displacement in Revolutionary Virginia,” at Rutgers University in March 2025. He will speak about his work creating podcasts for New Books in African American Studies; examples of his interviews are available here.
